VERY FIRST BLOG

What do you do when you are on a seemingly straight, relatively easy path, then without warning hit an unexpected bump beneath the snow and fall off the sled? There you are, a little shaken, and momentarily try to figure out what went wrong with such a simple plan. There are options; become frustrated and annoyed, (reaction) or look for an opportunity (respond) and build a little snowman.

It seems appropriate to title my first official blog post with the description of unexpected. Years ago in the late 1990’s, I had a plan for a studio setting to offer many holistic professions under one roof. This was Life’s Journey, and together we offered wellness support to hundreds of clients. As the journey continued, I was faced with traumatic life events. (I am sure I will touch on in writings to come) therefore, I chose to move out of state to a small mountain town. This was a downsize to say the least. Here I found healing and a supportive community. I opened a little health food store and shared my offerings from the health and wellness fields. Through the years, other “unexpected” turns on the path have brought me here. I am not a blogger nor an author, but I have journaled for over 30 years and enjoy writing about authentic life happenings. Many have followed my posts on FB and have reached out to encourage me to write more, so here I go on this trek of the journey…

There is nothing special about my story, as others share and post about similar situations in life. We all are on this forward flowing life’s journey whether we call it such or not. Making it through many difficulties, I have come to the realization that filtering life through the Word of God, always brings me to an answer. In my writings there will be this common thread woven throughout my stories. Most posts will not be about me, but the commonality of life that we all sojourn through and how we can step to a higher place or perhaps avoid a slip, by learning from one who has walked the path before us. To sum up today’s title, I refer to Proverbs 16:9 ” A mans heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.” We can plan to the most minute detail, but as my life and perhaps yours has proven, this can change in an instant. God does have a better plan!

What about when there is a train wreck in life, leaving the only option to pick up the scattered luggage and get to safety. Then the next road you are traveling takes a plummet downward and feels like you are falling into a sink hole with no obvious way out. These are desperate times, life starts to just seeming impossible to go on. It is then, when the authentic soul we all have, starts to shine through. The routine shifts to a higher calling, navigating ways of coping and learning to restoratively heal from any challenge that presents itself along this terrain we travel. Grief, loss, illness, addiction, abuse, accidents, choices, chronic pain…These and many other topics is what I would like us to discuss. To share and help each other along the climbs, the obstacles, the inclement weather, as well as times in the green meadows and beside still waters…Truly life is fragile, yet simultaneously bold and steady. Let us courageously trust, take the next step, work, play, create, help others and live the abundant gift of life as we journey on ~
